Commercial Property Accountant
Reports to: Director of Property Accounting
Location: Minneapolis, MN
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Schafer Richardson, LLC is a real estate investment company providing development, management, leasing, and construction services to its commercial and multifamily real estate portfolio in the Upper Midwest.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of commercial property accounting experience dealing with multiple commercial properties including retail, industrial, and office real estate simultaneously including cash management of multiple bank accounts.
The Commercial Property Accountant is responsible for handling all commercial property management accounting activities from the beginning to the end of the process and will work closely with the Director of Property Accounting.
Yardi Voyager software experience is required for this role. Compensation and benefits are competitive, including free parking in the North Loop area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Please note, the job description is not intended to be all encompassing. Other duties may be assigned by management as needed.
- Apply required property management accounting standards and procedures to the recording and reporting of property management activity.
- Ability to handle accounting activities for a growing portfolio of
- Understand leasing agreement and terms to ensure accuracy and timeliness of billings and
- Provide various reports as requested including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and trend analyses.
- Maintain accurate property rent
- Communicate with vendors via phone and
- Prepare and process monthly journal
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, prepare journal
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings, and annual budget
- Prepare monthly financial reports and account
- Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check
- Perform account/bank
- Assist with preparation and coordination of audit and tax return
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and
- Process Monthly shared expenses in accordance with Easement
- Maintain amortization and depreciation files and record monthly
- Scan and process payables coding accurately between CAM and owner expenses.
- Scan cash payments to proper bank accounts and apply to appropriate tenant or GL accounts
- Process monthly ACH payments for approval
- Process monthly billbacks and reconcile accounts
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related
- 3 – 5 years of property management accounting experience dealing with multiple properties
- Prior experience with CAM reconciliations strongly
- Prior property management accounting experience and general understanding of commercial lease language required.
- Cash management of multiple bank accounts strongly
- Yardi Voyager 7S software experience
