Historic Plaque Installed on Gurley Lofts

Gurley Lofts, now home to Schafer Richardson’s headquarters as well as 30 historic residential lofts in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis, was originally home to Gurley’s Candy, a candy factory that operated out of this building for over 50 years.

Eventually, the candy operation was purchased by Fanny Farmer, and grew the operation further, with this facility supplying stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North and South Dakota.

The North Loop Neighborhood Association is placing historic plaques throughout the North Loop to share the history of these buildings with the public.
